Dragoman pronounced \DRAG-uh-man\ The word took a scenic route to its present form via French, Italian, and medieval Latin/Greek, from Arabic tarjuman, from Aramaic turgemana, from Akkadian targumanu (interpreter).  An interpreter or guide.
